Here's a quick look at what is known as "Tornado Alley"

This area is called Tornado Alley more on the fact of occurrences rather than an actual "alley". In these areas, climate temperatures are much more favorable for tornado occurrences due to Texas bordering the Gulf of Mexico and the warmer air coming in from Kansas and the Colorado Mountains. (Forgive me for my basic climatology). When cold and warm air clashes and there is favorable circulation...well you guess it...We have a tornado. Ironically, a tornado doesn't start from the clouds down...but rather the ground up. Go figure.
